FAQ
While every body is different, most tans last 7–10 days with an even fade. Your care makes a big difference, so following the prep and aftercare instructions is key.
Absolutely! I use high-quality, professional products that are gentle on your skin, naturally derived, and the safest form of tanning. They provide a natural, streak-free glow.
Tans by Taryn is a mobile spray tan service in Manhattan, Kansas. I come to you, whether it’s your home, apartment, or sorority house, I will give you a flawless, custom sunless tan. Possible location available upon request if needed.
Proper prep ensures the best results. I recommend exfoliating and avoiding moisturizers, deodorants, or lotions on the day of your tan. Full prep instructions are on the "care" section of the website.
It’s best to avoid lotion, oils, or makeup on the skin where the tan will be applied, as they can create a barrier and prevent the tan from developing evenly.
You can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in. Whether that be a bathing suit or you may go topless if you are comfortable, but bottoms are required. Just know that there will be a tan line on the areas that garments cover your skin. I also recommend taking off all jewelry that you can, permanent jewelry is fine and we can blend the tan around it.
The simple answer is yes, the tan can transfer to clothing, especially light-colored items. I do not recommend wearing light colors immediately after your appointment. Most of the time, transfer will wash out if laundered soon after. This also applies to sheets and other washable fabrics you may come into contact with.
Your hair is safe during a spray tan. That being said you must keep your hair tied up or away from your skin to avoid any contact with the tanning solution. If you are concerned, I offer disposable hair nets complementary to the service.
Yes! Spray tanning is considered safe during pregnancy but it is always recommended to talk to you doctor especially in the first trimester.
Wait at least 8-12 hours before rinse with lukewarm water, no soap, pat dry, and follow with lotion.
Many lotions work well to maintain your tan, just make sure there are no mineral oils in your ingredients. My personal favorite is hempz lotion in the morning and Sjolie tan extending lotion at night (a retail product of mine).
Yes, there’s a small travel fee for appointments outside the Manhattan city limits. I’ll provide the details when you book. Please just make sure to be upfront on your location when booking.
Schedule your tan 1–2 days before your event for the freshest, most natural-looking color. This allows the tan to develop fully while ensuring it’s at its peak for your special day.
Keep your skin well-moisturized daily whenever possible, avoid long hot showers or baths, and continue to pat your skin dry rather than rubbing. To maintain an even, long-lasting glow, avoid exfoliating or shaving during your tan.
I also offer products to help extend the life of your tan:
MIX N°1: Added into the solution before your tan, this creates a fade-resistant barrier and a sweat-proof finish, adding a few extra days to your glow.
Tanning Water: Apply 2–3 times per week after your tan to rejuvenate and maintain your color.
Tan Extending Lotion with DHA: Helps revive your tan and keep your glow fresh for longer.
No it is not recommend to get a tan overtop of a fading tan or self-tanner. Its best to exfoliating the previous tan off to ensure a smooth application
No. I use professional, naturally derived solutions with violet undertones, which cancel out any orange-pulling color. The tan develops into a natural, sun-kissed glow, and the color is customized to your skin tone to ensure a flawless, natural result.
Avoid shaving after your tan. Ideally, you should shave during your prep before your appointment. Shaving after your tan can exfoliate the skin and cause the tan to fade faster.
